God's Love...

Which statement speaks the most to you?

A) God loves me because I’m a good person.

B) I do good things because God loves me.

If you ask me, there’s a big difference between these claims!

Option A)

If we act like pleasing people then it’s easier for us to expect God to love us. However, this perspective can present itself in two ways that are both rooted in pride....

👉🏼“Look at me, I’m so #Blessed!” It's tempting to think we can earn "God's favor" because of our own merit for making good decisions. This reasoning is based on our understanding of cause & effect. (If we do good things, then we should experience good results. But if people make bad decisions, then they'll get what they deserve.)

OR...

👉🏼“Woe is me, why is my life so difficult when I work so hard to do all the right things?” In this case, pride causes someone to think he/she always deserves better...because isn't that what the world teaches? As long as we participate and put in enough effort, then we should expect to get rewarded. We definitely don't want to accept trials when we feel like we've done our best to follow the rules. Instead we feel entitled to having an easy life.

Option B)

Personally, I believe this statement is the key to happiness....Yes, it feels good to do good. But Truthfully there’s no level of good work that garners God’s everlasting Love. Plus, we can’t earn more of something that is given freely! As a result our motive to do good deeds needs to come from a genuinely grateful heart... because He first loved us. ❤️

🙏🏻 Dear God,

THANK YOU for all your Gifts, especially the ones I take for granted. You set the standard for being a GOoD Lover!

PLEASE sharpen our senses to know You, sustain us with your Grace to always remember Your Love, & give us the Grit to serve you in all situations with an attitude of Gratitude! 🙏🏻
